Country guide
English-taught degrees, innovative teaching, and a gateway to Europe.
The guide
The Netherlands was one of the first non-English-speaking countries to offer a wide range of English-taught degrees, backed by innovative, problem-based teaching. Its central European location, high quality of life, and orientation-year visa make it a smart, forward-looking choice.
Dutch cities are compact, bike-friendly, and full of international students. Amsterdam, Delft, and Rotterdam combine a relaxed cycling culture with a strong start-up and research ecosystem.
Most non-EU students need an entry visa and residence permit, usually arranged by the university. After graduating, the orientation year (zoekjaar) gives you 12 months to find work in the Netherlands.
